John Ford Of The Strawbs John Ford is best known for his percussive style of bass playing, and as vocalist and songwriter. He penned the Strawbs' classic Chart Topper classic, "Part of the Union" (w/ Rick Wakeman on Synth/Keyboards) off Bursting at the Seams album. Founding member of Hudson Ford and The Monks bands, John Ford’s “Nice Legs Shame About The Face” on Bad Habits album and Suspended Animation which he sang Lead Vocals on, all claimed Gold and Platinum Record awards and also received an Ivor Novello Award for “Part of the Union.” Ford has also performed and toured Worldwide. The various bands he’s played in, have shared the bill with other legendary artists as Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Frank Zappa, King Crimson, Eagles, Cat Stevens, Dave Mason and many others. John Ford has also played with Ritchie Blackmore and Candice Night in Blackmore’s Night, and appeared on Under a Violet Moon CD. His versatile live show shifts easily from Solo Acoustic to fronting a full band. Ford’s newest CD release, “Big Hit In India” features some of his latest, greatest songs in an array of styles from Rock to Pop and AAA, also marks his ninth Solo album, since moving to the US in the mid 80s. 2010 will mark release of a new John Ford album, Resurrected – a collection of Ford’s favourite songs off his Solo albums of past decade. John Ford currently is also collaborating and recording new material with Ian Lloyd, founding member and lead singer of the band, Stories, and worldwide #1 Hit “Brother Louie.” Lloyd’s distinctive vocals can also be heard on other tracks by Foreigner, Billy Joel, YES, Peter Frampton and many others. |
